In the
seventy-two years that I have given my life to the service of God, I found
many promises God had made in the Bible. All of those promises were
fulfilled that God said he would fulfill during the lifetime of people on
the earth. Sometimes it took a long time before God fulfilled a future
promise.
For instance,
God promised Abraham the land of Canaan, Genesis 15. He told Abraham it
would be a long time before it would happen. Over 400 years later the
children of Israel, Abraham's descendants, came into Canaan. They overthrew
the idolatrous inhabitants and possessed the land. Joshua who led in that
conquest gathered the Israelites together before he died. He told them in
Joshua 23:14:
I am going
the way of all the earth, and ye know in all your hearts and in all your
souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which Jehovah
your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, not one thing
hath failed thereof.
I have read
many promises God made in Bible times. Later I found that God brought all of
those promises to pass. So I trust him to bring to pass the promises he has
made to us in the New Testament. I have never found a promise of God made to
us in this lifetime but what he fulfilled it.
I have
recently found some promises God has made to us in this life that I had not
realized before just how God was fulfilling them, but he did. The fault was
not with God, but with me. I was not observant enough. Now I have had time
to study them closer and I see that God was fulfilling them all of the time.
This
realization has enriched my life greatly. I believe you will find it the
same. More in the
next Web message.
