Beginning with
my preschool years my mother taught me about the Christian faith. I was
taken to Bible classes and church worship from the time I can remember. When
I was ten years old I was taught in a Bible class that if I put God first in
my life God would take care of my needs, Matthew 6:25-33.
When I was
thirteen years old I was baptized into Christ. I was filled with a joy that
I had never known before. I wished I could feel that good the rest of my
life.
When I was
fifteen years old I decided to serve God by preaching his word. That filled
my life with more joy. By the time I was twenty-two years old I had
graduated from college, and I was ready to spend my life in the cause of
God.
That was
followed by sixty-five years doing the best I could to advance God's
kingdom. It has been a happy sixty-five years. There have been times of
frustration, and times of great sorrow, but overall they have been happy
years. God has provided my needs. At age eighty-six I retired from full time
work for the Lord.
In retirement
I have been researching "The Promises of God" found in the Bible. I knew
many of them. But I have found some I was not aware of. Those additional
promises have increased my happiness. I want to share those promises with
you in the coming weeks. I believe the quality of your life will be raised
as was mine. My wife and I are happier right now than we have ever been
before.
