We are here on a
planet we call Earth. Is this all of the life we will ever have? Or, is
there another life after this? What evidence do we have to decide?
Obstetricians
watch the birth of a child and call it a miracle they cannot explain. How
can a male sperm invade a female egg and grow in nine months to produce a
person with such potential as the baby has at birth? All new life on earth
has deep questions. The most satisfactory answer is that an all-wise,
all-powerful God planned it so.
In natural
science there is a statement that says, “something cannot come from
nothing.” Since we have so many complex things on the earth they must have
come from someone with the intelligence and power to make them. To the
Christian that power is God. Read Revelation 4:8. He created heaven and
earth. (Genesis 1:1; Psalms 33:6,9)
There is
another axiom that says, “life comes only from previous life.” To the
Christian the eternal being who created life is God. Read Genesis 1:20-28
and Acts 17:24-28.
There are
other complexities in the things we find in this life that cannot be
explained without a power, who in the Bible is identified as the all-wise,
all-powerful God. Our God can do all that was needed to create this
universe, and create man on this planet with all of the amazing capabilities
man has.
The Bible
presents God as from everlasting to everlasting (Psalms 90:2). Without God
we have no answer to our most complex questions. With God we have an
assurance that gives us peace and hope. More next week…
