God Keeps His Promises- #16
When Joshua finished leading Israel in conquering the land of Canaan he said in Joshua 23:14, “And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Jehovah your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, not one thing has failed thereof.”

When Solomon finished his prayer of dedication for the temple that he had built for the worship of God (1 Kings 8: 56), he said “ Blessed be Jehovah, that hath given rest unto His people Israel, according to all that He promised: there hath not one word failed of all His good promises, which He promised by Moses His servant.”

God made many promises at different times in the Old Testament. We can read all of the history of God’s dealings with His people recorded there and not one of God’s promises ever failed to come to pass.

The Lord is not slack concerning His Promises (2 Peter 3:9), but is longsuffering toward us. With some promises we have to wait for God to fulfill them in His own time. Abraham had to wait until he was100 years old for God to give him a son by Sarah (Romans 14: 16-22). Take special note of verse 21. God will always fulfill His promises. We can trust Him.

In Hebrews 6:13-15 God swore His promise to Abraham. Because Abraham patiently waited for God’s time to fulfill His promise, Abraham obtained it.

God has told us that if we have patience and do His will we will receive all He has promised us (Hebrews 10:36).
